What's WODeveloper all about?
Site Stats
This site is intended to provide a "vertical portal" for the WebObjects development platform from Apple. The motivation for the site comes from the fact that ther are many WebObjects resources on the internet, but there is no central coordinating place for these resources. Also, there are many snippets of code "out there", but you have to know where to look, who to ask, which rocks to uncover and so on.

Therefore the major aim of this site is to collect together as much source code as possible, from a variety of disparate sources. It is not meant to compete with any other site out there; rather, to complement the existing WebObjects sites, to link to their content, and to add just a little extra in the way of source code examples, example applications and extra information not available elsewhere.

Another major aim of the site is to provide an accurate and unbiassed comparison of WebObjects with its competitors, such as BEA/WebLogic, Netscape Application Server and many others. There is a lot of conjecture about how WebObjects measures up to the competition, and the traffic on the WebObjects mailing list hosted by Omni about this subject is phenomenal. This site wants to address this issue head on and provide insight from people who are using these competing products, and who know WebObjects/EOF well.

Ever tried to search the excellent postings on the WebObjects mailing list? Another useful feature of this site will be to provide a search engine on the various WebObjects/EOF/MacOS Developer lists hosted by Omni.

Ever had to justify using WebObjects? One great way to justify it's use is having a list of real web sites to look at, that actually use the WebObjects product as their application server. This site will add to the several lists already out there of WebObjects customers. Remember that these are real sites, not simply a customer who has contacted Apple and played with a couple of demos.
