Some of you guys ought to go into tea leaf reading. From a technical
point of view
Obj-C is going to the language choice for the highest
performance/compatibility
with Yellow. I believe you can write C++ in PB if you really want to. As
a matter
of fact there are some examples in WO4. It seems a bit obvious in a
venue like
MacWorld Apple is going to be "hell bent" on promoting what the most
people know
about - Java, as much as anybody there knows about development
languages. And next
to no one knows about Obj-C other that OpenStep and WO developers.
Focusing on
Obj-C loses them a lot of developers who might be interested in the Mac.
Talking
about "standardization" is good marketing also. Java, unless some
technical
revolution comes about, e.g., native compilers producing the performance
of Obj-C,
is going to be a choice for some application development, but Obj-C is
not going
to go away any time soon.
