Puzzling shark output

This is no less puzzling, as I know the program is spending a major of 
the time sampled (a good 5-10 seconds) inside this method. Is there no 
way to get detailed feedback about performance inside this method? Or 
do I need a longer sample? I basically turned shark on only during the 
single part of the program flow that is extremely slow.
